Additionally, 2 separate genome-wide association studies have demonstrated that multiple SNPs within PRDM16 (rs72633335, rs6670123, rs2493288, rs2493290, rs2493291, rs2493292, rs2493296, and rs2493298) are associated with a higher risk of developing coronary artery disease (17) and hypertension (18) within certain populations (Supplemental Figure 2).
