In a study that examined the interaction of MC4R variants and dietary patterns on the risk of obesity in Korean middle-aged adults, it was reported that the MC4R rs18882313 minor allele was more common in the obese group and that processed foods and fats (as a percentage of energy) was significantly higher, whilst fruit consumption was significantly lower, in people with MC4R minor alleles [44]. Here, MC4R is linked to obesity disorder.
