In antineutrophil cytoplasmic antigen (ANCA)- mediated vasculitis, an aggressive autoimmune disease which frequently causes crescentic glomerulonephritis, a subset of patients were found to have autoantibodies to LAMP2 [39], suggesting that lysosomes may play a role in the pathogenesis of this disease. The gene discussed is LAMP2; the disease is crescentic glomerulonephritis.
