Since it was reported that the ethanol-induced pathologies in Cyp2e1 KO mice are similar to those observed in WT mice and that CYP2E1 activity is not correlated with oxidative stress in individuals with alcoholism (40), we suggest that a reduction in CYP2E1 expression in Pgrmc1 KO mice may not be a major contributing factor in ALD. This evidence concerns the gene PGRMC1 and alcohol drinking.
