As a metal transporter, SLC39A10 has been shown to mediate the transport of zinc ions across the cell membrane into the cytoplasm in a variety of cell types including mouse macrophages,[17] mouse B cells,[34] and cells in the rat renal brush‐border membrane.[16] Here, we report that SLC39A10 is the most responsive member of the zinc importer family to zinc deficiency in HSCs and is indispensable for the survival of these cells. The gene discussed is SLC39A10; the disease is Zinc deficiency.
