Preclinical and clinical studies have demonstrated that MIF is overexpressed in many different types of human cancers (i.e., lung, ovarian, colorectal, pancreatic, breast, gastric, bladder, head and neck cancer, neuroblastoma, melanoma, and acute myeloid leukemia) and correlates with tumor aggressiveness (8, 11). Here, MIF is linked to acute myeloid leukemia.
