In type I PLG deficiency, also known as hypoplasminogenemia, PLG activity (PLG:A) and PLG antigen (PLG:Ag) levels are decreased, whereas in type II PLG deficiency, also known as dysplasminogenemia, PLG:A levels are decreased despite normal PLG:Ag levels (Cheng et al., 2016). The gene discussed is RENBP; the disease is hypoplasminogenemia.
