CXCL1 and acute respiratory distress syndrome: In summary, our studies demonstrate that animals with a cervical SCI display signs of mild ALI/ARDS including, but not limited to marked increases in alveolar neutrophil counts, heightened levels of proinflammatory cytokines and neutrophil-activating KC/GRO, intra-alveolar edema, and metabolic dysregulation 14 days after injury.
