STAT6 and disease of the tendon: Simultaneously, Dakin et al. found that both tendinopathic and ruptured Achilles tendons of human expressed many CD14+ and CD68+ cells and showed a complex inflammation signature, involving interferon, nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) and signal transducer and activator of transcription 6 (STAT-6) activation pathways, which also proved that inflammation was a vital pathological process of tendinopathy (Dakin et al., 2018).
