Aside from cancer, targeting QPCTL has been widely studied in Alzheimer’s disease as it modified the forms of amyloid-β (Aβ) oligomers to catalyze the generation of pyroglutamate-Aβ (AβpE3), which is more neurotoxic (21, 40). This evidence concerns the gene QPCTL and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
