In addition to the role in inhibiting breast tumor metastasis, PLAAT4 was shown to be capable of sequestering the oncoprotein metadherin (MTDH, a.k.a. AEG-1) that is involved in the development of various types of tumors, preventing MTDH from activating the cytoplasm-nuclear translocation of β-Catenin, whereby leading to suppression of the metastasis of colorectal cancer (115, 122, 123). This evidence concerns the gene PLAAT4 and breast neoplasm.
