AKT1 and cancer: The phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (Akt)/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathway, plays a key role in the formation and development of various diseases, including cancer (Ediriweera et al., 2019), neurodegenerative disorders (Fakhri et al., 2021), etc. PI3K is a class of lipid kinases further classified into three subclasses, namely, PI3KI, PI3KII, and PI3KIII.
