Pegbelfermin (BMS-986036), a PEGylated analog of FGF21, has been shown to safely reduce hepatic fat fraction in patients with NASH (Sanyal et al., 2019), as has efruxifermin (AKR001), another long-acting Fc-FGF21 fusion protein (Harrison et al., 2021b). Here, FGF21 is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
