The atypia of hepatocytes on cytology is not sufficient to make a definite diagnosis of well‐differentiated HCC because well‐differentiated HCC has little cellular atypia and requires the estimation of structural atypia by histopathology or immunostaining against heat shock protein 70, glutamine synthetase, or glypican‐3.17, 18. The gene discussed is GLUL; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
