In SCID mice, when 12-LOX-transfected PCa cells were injected via the tail vein into mice implanted with human bone fragments, increased metastasis of cancer cells transfected with 12-LOX to human bone compared with control vector-transfected cells, suggesting that overexpression of 12-LOX enhanced the metastatic potential of PCa cells [127]. This evidence concerns the gene ALOX15 and posterior cortical atrophy.
