Consistent with this expression, TTBK1/2 have described pathological roles specific to the central nervous system and brain, such as in Alzheimer’s disease (AD), frontotemporal dementia (FTD), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and a spinocerebellar ataxia type 11 (SCA11)7. Here, TTBK1 is linked to Alzheimer disease.
