Tumor endothelium has a very different genetic profile than healthy endothelium (Table 1), with the main variations influencing a number of cell adhesion molecules (such as ICAM1, VCAM1, E-selectin), antigen presentation, and chemokines (such as CCL2, CCL18, CXCL10, and CXCL11) and cytokines involved (such as TNFα, IFNγ, and IL-1) in immune cell recruitment.
