It has been reported that the levels of cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in serum and cerebrospinal fluid of patients with AD and mild cognitive impairment (MCI), increase steadily during the time of MCI to AD conversion, suggesting that neuroinflammation may closely correlate with progression of AD [6]. This evidence concerns the gene TNF and Alzheimer disease.
