CXCL8 and cancer: For example, (-)-epigallocatechin 3-O-gallate (EGCG) has an anti-inflammatory effect in LPS- induced cancer in the HT-29 colon cell line by decreasing the synthesis of pro-inflammatory mediators (nitric oxide-NO and interleukin -8, IL-8) as well as the activation of inflammatory signalling pathways (mitogen activated kinases, MAPKs and nuclear factor–kB, NF-κB).
