Considering the need for early tumor detection and early clinical intervention, it is not surprising that under the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI’s) Physician Data Query (PDQ) for FH-deficient RCC, it is stated that “the development of diagnostic blood-based tests or imaging tools that permit cost-effective surveillance of the kidneys of patients with HLRCC would have a major positive effect on the outcomes of these individuals” (33). Here, FH is linked to hereditary leiomyomatosis and renal cell cancer.
