In vitro health properties could reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) through inhibition of the key enzymes relevant to Alzheimer’s disease (β-secretase, acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase), hypertension (angiotensin-converting enzyme), obesity (lipase) and diabetes (α-glucosidase). This evidence concerns the gene ACE and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
