In line with this, AXIN2, a negative regulator of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, which prevents proliferative responses, was strongly downregulated by PG stimulation on Caco-2 cells, whereas CFM derived from IBD fibroblasts stimulated with PG reverted AXIN2 expression to baseline levels (Figure 7D). Here, AXIN2 is linked to inflammatory bowel disease.
