Considering these intricately interwoven activities occurring in both T2DM and obesity, we infer that CAV1 may be the central factor directly or indirectly exerting a modulating effect on the increased serum triglyceride and free fatty acid levels, hyperinsulinemia, impaired glycogen storage, and a proinflammatory microenvironment in adipocytes. Here, CAV1 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
