In the CITRIS-ALI randomized clinical trial it was found that a 96-h infusion of vitamin C (50 mg/kg in dextrose 5% in water every 6 h for 96 h) could not modify levels of CRP, thrombomodulin, and modified Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (mSOFA) scores in patients with sepsis and severe acute respiratory distress syndrome. Here, CRP is linked to acute respiratory distress syndrome.
