After a careful search of the available literature on data describing association with mechanisms of carcinogenesis or tumor progression, the proteins overexpressed in the HCC areas of greatest interest were Ladinin-1 (LAD1), 5-aminolevulinate synthase, nonspecific (ALAS1), mitochondria-eating protein (MIEAP), Protein FAM76B, Inactive phospholipase C-like protein 2 (PLCL2), Zinc finger protein 185 (ZN185), and Zinc finger protein 783 (ZN783). This evidence concerns the gene ALAS1 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
