When the ALBI grade was examined along with other variables in the univariate analysis (Table 3), thrombocytopenia, lower serum albumin levels, higher creatinine levels, presence of ascites, alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) level > 200 ng/mL, vascular invasion, larger tumor size, performance status 2 and ALBI grades 2–3 were associated with increased mortality. This evidence concerns the gene AFP and neoplasm.
