Recently, Slit2 has been reported to enhance the ability of M1-TAMs (tumor-associated macrophages) to phagocytose tumor cells, which occurred via suppressing the production of IL6, a cytokine can increase macrophage fibrosis and reduce phagocytosis, from breast cancer cells or macrophages in the tumor microenvironment (31). The gene discussed is SLIT2; the disease is breast carcinoma.
