CD4 and lymphoma: Even so, CD4 T-cell count is not an appropriate measure as it is affected by either the malignancy or cancer treatment.11 Virologic suppression is recognized as an important predictor of survival among patients with HIV and cancer.12,13 Evidence from a study done by Gopal et al14 among PLWHIV diagnosed with lymphoma showed that patients with higher HIV viral loads for 6 months after lymphoma diagnosis had worse survival with a 35% increase in mortality.
