The success of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI), targeting programmed cell death protein 1 (PD1) and its ligand PD-L1 (also called CD274), and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4 (CTLA4) in the therapy of some solid tumors has sparked significant interest in applying immunotherapy to HCC. Here, CTLA4 is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
