Indeed, the frequency of circulating SARS-CoV-2 specific memory CD8+ T cells in SARS-CoV-2-infected individuals are ~10-fold lower than for influenza or Epstein-Barr virus-specific T cell populations (47), which indicates the suboptimal induction of memory CD8+ T cells following SARS-CoV-2 infection in humans.
