We found that, in the cardiomyopathies, editing of both Alu and IGFBP7 has a predictive value that is comparable to the expression of top heart failure markers, such as troponin subtypes, atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), and B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP, AUC: ANP = 0.73, BNP = 0.9, Troponin I = 0.92, Troponin T = 0.69, IGFBP7 editing = 0.8, Alu editing = 0.84, S4 Fig in the Supplementary Material). The gene discussed is NPPA; the disease is cardiomyopathy.
