Consideration of these genes with the candidate genes that had been obtained through the GWAS produced fifteen core genes that were shared by NAFLD and T2D, namely DNAJB9, VPS53, SCGN, CMAS, RGS6, FASLG, ABHD10, ATRN, PLA2G2F, ITIH2, ROBO1, SGCG, SH3GL2, CNR1, and FOXN3 (Table 3). The gene discussed is FOXN3; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
