In a meta-analysis of 83 RCTs involving 121,070 adults at any risk of type 2 diabetes, intake of ω-3, ω-6, and total PUFAs (mainly LC ω-3 PUFAs; mean dose: 2.0 g/d, mean duration: 33 mo) had little or no effect on incident type 2 diabetes and glucose metabolism (HbA1c, fasting plasma glucose, fasting insulin, and the HOMA-IR) [71].
