The induction of IL‐1β expression in the CNS has also been shown in models of acute brain injury (Lu et al., 2007), Alzheimer's disease (Kitazawa et al., 2011), Parkinson's disease (Sznejder‐Pachołek et al., 2017), CNS autoimmunity (Paré et al., 2017), anxiety (Rossi et al., 2012), depression (Maes et al., 2012) and autism (Wu et al., 2017).
