FBN1 and Aortic dissection: Marfan syndrome (MFS) is a relatively common connective tissue disorder caused by mutations in the extracellular matrix (ECM) protein fibrillin-1 that, by causing loss of tissue integrity, promote a variety of systemic manifestations, including thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA) that leads to acute aortic dissection and rupture (1).
