Experimental evidence accumulated in the last years supports the concept that IFN‐ɣ inducible Th1‐associated chemokines CXCL9, CXCL10 and CXCL11 may play a critical role in developing several autoimmune disorders and in beta cell destruction in T1D.3, 14, 15. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL9 and type 1 diabetes mellitus.
