GRM2 and Anxiety: In previous work, we studied the effect of BCI-838, a group II metabotropic glutamate receptor (mGluR2/3) antagonist prodrug.61 mGluR2/3 antagonists have proneurogenic, procognitive, antidepressant, and anxiolytic activities in many animal models.61–66 BCI-838 reversed PTSD-related behavioral traits in blast-exposed rats, improving anxiety- and fear-related behaviors as well as long-term recognition memory concomitant with increased neurogenesis in the dentate gyrus.11
