The loss of strongly bound cross‐bridges in MHC I, IIA and IIB fibers (Figure 4a,b) and reduced myofilament stiffness in MHC IIA fibers (Figure 4c) may be due to loss and/or degeneration of myofilaments and Z bands found in adult CKD patients on dialysis (Ahonen, 1980; Diesel et al., 1993; Lewis et al., 2012), but these findings have not yet been replicated in children with CKD. Here, HLA-C is linked to chronic kidney disease.
