In recently published research articles, it was found that several laboratory indices may facilitate the assessment of COVID-19 severity, such as low lymphocyte count as well as serum levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), D-dimer, ferritin, cardiac troponin, and interleukin (IL-6), which may be used in risk stratification to predict severe and fatal COVID-19 patients [6,7]. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and COVID-19.
