HMGCR and depressive disorder: We did not observe an association of genetically predicted HMGCR inhibition with altered risk of depression, neuroticism or depressed affect; however, we found nominal association with reduced worrying symptoms (β = −0.05 (95% confidence interval (CI) = −0.097 to −0.0018); p = 0.042) (β values represent change in outcome trait per 1-standard-deviation (SD) decrease in HMGCR gene expression) (Fig. 3).
