In one genome-wide association study of 53,400 people with IBS, six genes (NCAM1, CADM2, PHF2/FAM120A, DOCK9, CKAP2/TPTE2P3 and BAG6) were found to be associated with IBS susceptibility including four genes linked to mood, anxiety, or expressed in the nervous system. This evidence concerns the gene TPTE2P3 and irritable bowel syndrome.
