Overexpression of the receptor tyrosine kinase-like orphan receptor 2 (ROR2) was also able to increase retention of BM-MSCs in lung tissue after LPS challenge, leading to further reduction in lung injury, edema and fibrosis, and IL-1β and IL-6 levels, compared with unmodified MSCs, in experimental LPS-induced ARDS (Cai et al., 2016). The gene discussed is ROR2; the disease is acute respiratory distress syndrome.
