MAIT cells from the liver of mice with MCD-induced NAFLD stimulated with Phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) and ionomycin produced increased levels of anti-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL4 and IL10, and lower levels of the pro-inflammatory cytokines IFNγ and TNFα (80, 84, 85), indicating a switch to Th2 cytokine production. Here, IL4 is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
