MST1 and diabetic cardiomyopathy: In a mouse model of diabetic cardiomyopathy [43], melatonin has been shown to inhibit Mst1 expression and Mst1 phosphorylation, up-regulate LC3-II expression, and reduce p62 accumulation, suggesting that melatonin may up-regulate cardiomyocyte autophagy by inhibiting Mst1, thereby inhibiting the progression of diabetic cardiomyopathy.
