These results indicate that the fourth extracellular domain of human MYADM is essential for the productive infection of human cells with PeV-A3, by mediating the binding of human MYADM to the VP0 protein of PeV-A3, and that this domain determines the infection of human cells with PeV-A3, but not that of mouse or hamster cells. The gene discussed is MYADM; the disease is infection.
