We first assessed the levels of amyloid and tau pathology in control and AD cases (Supplementary Figure 10A,B,D–E), finding significantly higher levels of MOAB‐2‐positive amyloid beta (Aβ) pathology (control 0.8 ± 0.6 vs. AD 2.9 ± 2.5 per mm2, p = .0083, Supplementary Figure 10G) and AT8‐positive hyperphosphorylated tau (control 0.0 ± 0.0 vs. AD 16.0 ± 7.6 per mm2, p < .0001, Supplementary Figure 10H) in AD cases compared to controls, supporting the plaque density and Braak scores in the pathology summary (Supplementary Table 1). This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and Alzheimer disease.
