G6PD and G6PD deficiency: Similarly, 19.9% (309 of 1553) of self-identified Black male veterans in our SARS-CoV-2–positive cohort were G6PD-deficient vs 11.2% of Black men in the military (Figure 2).39 Overall, G6PD deficiency was more prevalent in our cohort of veterans who were SARS-CoV-2 positive across all populations assessed, including men and women, than in the general military population (Figure 2).
