A few studies have reported adiponectin and AdipoRs are expressed in salivary gland tissues [35, 36] and in those patients with Sjogren’s syndrome, minor salivary gland epithelial cells secrete more adiponectin than normal, which suggests that adiponectin and AdipoRs expressed in SGs can regulate inflammatory reactions [36, 37]. Here, ADIPOQ is linked to Sjogren syndrome.
