Previous genome-wide DNA methylation analysis has shown that GADD45G and CAPRIN1 are representative genes in which core promoter lesions were hypermethylated in the NP in the advanced stage of disc degeneration [13]; however, the percentage of GADD45G- and CAPRIN1-immunopositive cells was higher in the human NP with advanced stages of disc degeneration. The gene discussed is GADD45G; the disease is intervertebral disk degenerative disorder.
