To date, several regulators, such as c-Jun N-terminal kinase 1 (JNK1), Period 1 and 2, and adenosine 2A receptor, have been found to alter the inflammatory status of macrophages, which in turn interact with hepatocytes to protect against or contribute to hepatic steatosis and inflammation [15,16,17]. The gene discussed is MAPK8; the disease is steatosis.
